The finest guitar I can make, in tribute to the genius of the Languedoc G2. A true 13” archtop hollowbody jazz guitar with a floating bridge. Completely customizable, and no two are exactly alike by design.
Steam bent sides, hand carved archtop and back, with violin style parallel Sitka spruce bracing, and inverse african mahogany kerfed linings. Together we pick from the finest tonewoods available to create the instrument of your dreams.
The M2 is maple as a standard wood for the top, bottom, sides and neck. I prefer maple for both acoustic and aesthetic reasons. However, most hardwoods are possible and are all market price. Wooden bindings and purflings are standard. There is almost no plastic on an M2, allowing for maximum acoustical resonance.
Gaboon ebony and brass is standard for the appointments and fretboard. 14” radius, 25.5” scale, jumbo nickel frets. Graphite nut, Schaller M6 mini tuners,
Seymour Duncan Sh-1 (59’s or PAF) nickle pickups with my custom made braided wire harness comes standard on every M2. A single volume and a single tone, a 3-way selector and a coil tap mini switch. I am a Seymour Duncan dealer and prefer them personally. However, any electronics scheme you can imagine is possible and any electronics you might want are available at market price. Other possible mini switch configurations can include:
coil tap/drop,
series/parrallel
kill switch
phase switch
Custom mother of pearl inlay on the fretboard and Inski logo on the headstock. I love all of my guitar children equally. But the M2s are the guitars that got me into building: and therefore I most enjoy creating.
10-12 month build time. -
A more accessible price point than the M2. The M4 cosmetically resembles the M2 and will still get amazing hollow body tone. While the M2 will always be superior in tone and resonance, the M4 has no problem getting you to Trey town. It’s a step above the PRS Hollowbody in terms of resonance, and blows away any of the Asian knockoffs.
My custom design - a 13' hollowbody with the back and sides carved from a single piece of wood, and a hand carved arched top with parallel violin style bracing on top. Same 7 piece neck and electronics setup as the M2 model. Dual Seymour Duncan Sh-1 pickpus and my custom wire harness.
Limited customization options are available. -
Custom 16" thinline Jazz Archtop in the Benedetto tradition. Fully customizable to the player.
My roots are in jazz, as I recieved my degree in jazz guitar from the University of Wisconsin - Steven’s Point in 2002. -
I really admire the instruments that Doug Irwin made a lot. These guitars are in tribute to him and his vibe.
Currently the only solidbody instrument I am offering. Through body construction, hippy sandwich.
Unfortunately, and as far as I can tell, there isn’t any real magic in the world. I’ve looked pretty hard. Music is about as close as it gets, and the Guitar is the quintessential American instrument of our time. The thing that always struck me about the guitar was that you are able to play such a variety of musical styles and sounds. Beauty and darkness and everything in between. And the guitar has a vocal timbre that has undeniably moved humans as species on mass. I was hooked early in life, and went on to major in music at UWSP where I studied Jazz Guitar and composition. Then I spent the better part of the next decade on the road playing shows till the wee hours of the night in the bars and nightclubs across this country. I started my Phish Tribute: PHUN in 2009, but since having a child in 2014 I’ve stuck closer to home here in Wisconsin and the Midwest.
I’ve been repairing guitars since owning my first strat copy at age 14. I’ve learned various electronic repair and circuit creation skills while tinkering and repairing the myriad instruments I’ve owned and played over the years; in a professional capacity playing in bands, working as a guitar repair tech and Lesson Teacher.
The Covid-19 pandemic was the perfect storm of an opportunity for me to challenge myself to build my first instrument from total scratch. I ordered blocks of wood and brass rebar online, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I completed my first guitar in 2020 and I can easily see a career working as a Luthier for the rest of my life.
My flagship M2 model is simply the finest guitar that I make, and it is a tribute to the Languedoc G2. Paul Languedoc is the Vermont based luthier who designs and builds guitars for Phish’s Trey Anastasio. These smaller jazz box guitars are built as acoustic instruments, and are quite loud without even being plugged in. They are completely hollow, and have braced arched tops and backs, and steam bent sides. It is my mission to pay tribute to Paul with these guitars, while adding my own (and maybe your own) custom ideas to make each and every guitar that I make an individual, one-of-a kind work of art.
Although I spend most of my time on hollow body guitars, Doug Irwin is the master Luthier behind some of Jerry Garcia’s most iconic instruments, and another personal hero of mine. making instruments inspired by him is also a passion for me! Tigers and Wolfs and Rosebuds Oh My!
Robert Benedetto is the last luthier I’ll mention here. he is the modern master of building the Jazz Guitar. I believe that many of Paul’s practices are derived from Benedetto’s. But when building a jazz instrument he is who I look to for inspiration.
I’m just over here attempting to build heirloom quality instruments for discriminating guitarists. Send me an email to start a conversation about your future build, or just to chat about Phish! I love to work with people, and get to know them as musicians and artists. Music is the only real magic, so go make it.
